Nomad Sculpt

I will not be convinced to return to zBrush when Nomad exists. I’ve championed this app to several game dev friends who enjoy sculpting and I will continue to do so. The app itself is amazing, reasonably priced one time buy, solid features, UI that is intuitive and never overwhelming, and also great documentation. The Quad remesher add-on is worth the price if you want to export out decently cleaned up meshes, it’s not perfect but it’s the same result as most other 3D software with less hassle. The app runs great even on a gen3 iPad, Ive had very few crashes only due to accidentally remeshing to an extremely high poly-count. Auto-save has saved me many a times from this. The UI never feels cramped even on the smaller 11in iPad. Anything experimental or buggy is always labelled so!! You actually get a chance to save or backup vs blindly using a tool that could mess up your work or crash the app. The wants: I know it’s a sculpting app but I really wish there were some hard surface modeling options! There are times I want to make pieces that are less organic and I have to swap to a different software (Maya) to import it in. Maybe it’s a skill/knowledge issue on my part, if it was a Nomad add-on or adjacent app I would buy it considering the positive experience I’ve had with Nomad itself. A turntable export feature would also be nice for final displays, recording your screen can only capture so much in terms of resolution. Customizable tool kits would also be nice in order to keep brush groups together and lessen scrolling/searching in the single side bar.

I actually don’t even know how to qualify how good this program actually is it is one of the best 3-D modeling sculpting programs that exist. In my opinion I just recently got into 3-D modeling as an artist and for the largest part it’s 90% intuitive and 10% very complex and I think that’s a good ratio that proves that any beginner can start using this software and create beautiful 3-D anything you want highly recommend well worth the $20 for a lifetime of use.

So far, I’m loving this app, and it was fairly easy to learn how to use the sculpting tools, and tweak the settings. Now, onto the issue. There needs to be a rigging section/setting added to this software, but I know it will take a ton of hard work, coding, and even money (and even it’s possibility is skewed because of the space issues with mobile devices). I’m utterly exhausted with having to transport all of my sculpts and creations into complicated, time-consuming softwares like Blender (or any third-party rigging websites) because I am a hands/fingers on creator, and I don’t like to use computer mouses and trackpads to use softwares like Blender (but that’s just my personal preference). 🥹 I hope y’all will be able to eventually add a rigging setting to this app. This app has a lot of potential! 😇

You can do alot of important things in the app, mostly modeling, but i have one issue with it. using the built-in layer tool, you can basically animate to some extent, by changing the percentage of the layer and exporting each frame, you can make an animation. even if you’re going for a quick animation, doing this with multiple parts can take a long time and is a needless hassle. my request is a simple timeline, each frame can save multiple changes so you can move back to certain frames to change some things. if it isnt too much to ask for, this would be a beautiful update.

For the love of God, just add auto save. This Would be a perfect app if it weren’t due to how often the app resets itself. I mean come on this is just ridiculous. I leave the app for one minute to look at reference images. the second I reopened the app, Everything I worked on is completely gone. This isn’t a PC application this is a mobile application. An auto save option for mobile software is not only customary, but a basic function seen in most art related apps. Not having an auto save function is not only disastrous but a huge deterrent for both me and many others from consistently using the app. do better.

Best app for sculpting but it has one major flaw! If you exit out the app for what seems like 30 seconds or more it doesn’t save and wipes out everything! The constant reloading is annoying.
