Keine Analyse, keine Drittanbieter

Habeo – iOS app by Julian Schiemann
In short
Habeo has no user account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Everything you enter lives on your device and, if you use iCloud, in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account. There is no iOSapps.de server. Exactly two kinds of requests leave the device, for exchange and commodity rates; both are logged inside the app, and a switch turns them off.

What the app stores
Only what you enter yourself: items (name, category, quantity, currency, identifiers such as ISIN), entries (date, units, price, fees), valuations, notes, attachments (receipts, appraisals, policies, photos) and your settings. Habeo never asks for bank logins, brokerage credentials or ID documents.
On the device
The database sits in the app’s protected container and is encrypted with the iOS data protection class “complete”: readable only while the device is unlocked. This requires a device passcode. If none is set, that protection does not apply, and the app tells you so instead of claiming security it does not have.
iCloud
If you use iCloud, Habeo syncs through the private CloudKit database of your Apple Account. Amounts, quantities, prices, names, notes and entry dates are stored there as encrypted fields; attachments as CloudKit assets, which CloudKit encrypts by default. No server can read or index those fields. Who holds the keys depends on your Apple Account: without Advanced Data Protection they are kept in Apple’s data centres, with it they stay with you alone. Without an iCloud account, Habeo runs locally only. iCloud is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
Network
Habeo fetches no security prices. The app makes exactly two kinds of requests, each without cookies, without cache and without any identifier:
- Exchange rates:
api.frankfurter.devprovides the European Central Bank’s reference rates. The request carries your base currency and the list of currency codes that appear in your register (for example USD, CHF). Only if you hold something in a foreign currency. The rates are available free of charge from the ECB. - Bitcoin, gold, silver:
api.coingecko.comprovides one quote for Bitcoin as well as gold and silver. The request is identical for every user and carries no information about what you own. Only if you hold Bitcoin, gold or silver, or read amounts in Bitcoin.
Both providers see your IP address; that is technically unavoidable for any internet connection. Every request is listed with time, destination and content on the app’s transparency page. The “Network off” switch blocks all requests; the app then keeps working with the last known rates.
Face ID and Touch ID
The lock uses the iOS system feature. Biometric data never leaves the device and is not accessible to Habeo.
Backup, export, import
Only when you ask for it. The CSV export is unencrypted plain text. The encrypted backup uses AES-GCM with a key derived from your passphrase (PBKDF2); without the passphrase it cannot be read, not by us either. Where you send a file is your decision.
Widget and Siri
The widget shows no amounts by default. If you enable them, the app keeps a small extract in the protected app group container on the device. The shortcut “What is my portfolio worth?” is answered on the device; nothing is transmitted.
Reference data
Searching for securities and metals uses a list bundled with the app (sources: FinanceDatabase, Adanos, Wikidata; licences in Settings). Nothing is sent for it.
No analytics, no third parties
Habeo contains no analytics, advertising or tracking libraries and reports neither usage nor crashes to us. Apple may offer you anonymised crash reports through iOS Settings; that is your decision towards Apple.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes the local data. Data in iCloud is removed in iOS Settings under your Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage → Habeo.
