Castro Podcast Player

Viele Clients getestet. Bestes Feature hier ist die Inbox. Bleibt meine Nummer eins.

I was a long time subscriber until the app was abandoned. When the app was revived in 2023, I gave it a try even though I was no longer grandfathered into my old subscription price. Even though the I appreciate the efforts of the new dev and I love the app, the new price is too high for me and I cancelled my subscription in July of this year. I wish the free version was more usable, but with many of the features currently paywalled and those same features available for free on other apps I’ve had to make the switch. Edit: The 1-star review is for the features in the free app. It’s a magnitude of difference between the features that are paywalled and what one can do with the free app itself. You have a lot of features that differentiate you from other apps to lock these many features from the free version. Big prominent ads at the top of my feed are also a no-no. Generally I subscribe to apps that I use often just to get rid of ads, but I can’t pay 19-25€ to each developer I like for this. Final edit: To be clear, I’m not asking anyone to work for free. I was a paying subscriber of this app for 4+ years and I used to love this app. Instead of taking my review personally, my suggestion would be to reflect on wether you’re paywalling the right features, whether you have alternative options (like subscription tiers, individual features or tip jars) and how you communicate generally with your users.

Sometimes the app responds very slowly or not at all to input, and then you can only wait until it crashes. This is extremely frustrating because I really like the basic concept of the inbox, but unfortunately, the time it takes for new episodes to load in the inbox is also rather poor, and you have to manually trigger the affected feed. It would be good if this could be done for all feeds at once.
